Privacy Policy
Last modified: 6 July 2025
Summary
QRoar stores user preferences locally, records anonymous click events for product analytics (Google Analytics) and captures crash logs (Sentry). We never read page content, never sell data and never collect information that can directly identify you.
1 Who We Are
QRoar (“the Extension”, “we”, “our”) is published in the Chrome Web Store. Questions? Email us at qroar.code@gmail.com
2 Information We Collect
Category | Source | Purpose | Retention |
Preference data (e.g. colors, logo settings) | Chromium storage | Remember your settings | Until you uninstall or clear browser data |
Anonymous event data (button clicks, feature usage) | Google Analytics | Product analytics & UX improvements | 2 months |
Error logs (stack trace, runtime info) | Sentry SDK | Debug & maintain stability | 90 days |
3 Chrome Permissions Requested
Permission | Why It’s Needed |
storage | Saves your settings locally. |
activeTab | Gives one-time access to the current tab’s URL, title and favicon after you click the toolbar button, so the Extension can generate a QR code and brand it. |
favicon | Obtains the site’s 16 × 16 icon via Chrome APIs; no additional page data is read. |
4 How We Use and Share Data
- Analytics (Google Analytics). We capture pseudonymous usage metrics to guide product decisions.
- Crash reporting (Sentry). Unhandled errors generate stack traces that help us improve stability.
- No advertising or resale. We do not sell, rent or disclose information to third parties.
5 Data Security
All data in transit uses TLS 1.2+; Google Analytics and Sentry encrypt data at rest and restrict staff access to least privilege.
6 Children’s Privacy
The Extension is not directed at children under 16.
7 Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy to reflect operational, legal or regulatory changes. We will post revisions here and show an in-extension notice if changes are significant.
